Mecca Bingo’s Owner Sees Third Quarter Profits Boost

Rank Group, the company behind Mecca Bingo, has reported a 7% rise in sales for the third quarter of 2010 and it is predicted they will see profits of nearly $50 million for the full year.

However, this boost in revenue was more evident in their online gaming enterprises. Rank Group’s interactive division, which oversees the running of Mecca Bingo online, G Casino and Blue Square, saw a revenue increase of 26% in the third quarter. Blue Square, which had recently been re-launched after receiving substantial investment, experienced a 30% growth for this period.

But Rank Group is all too aware that there could be challenges ahead, especially with gambling regulations that have been proposed by the UK Government.

A statement from the company read: "We note that the Government is still considering changes to the regulation of remote gambling in Great Britain as well as the taxation of amusement machines. We have made it clear that we would support these measures so long as they are delivered within the context of a broader equalisation of regulatory and fiscal conditions for land-based operators."
